Day Support Option
The Day Support Program (DSO) provides stimulating activities for participating individuals.

We are active in the local community:
  • A small group of participants support the local Meals on Wheels program three days a week by picking up and distributing meals to seniors in Winsted.
  • We recycle bottles & cans, using the funds to purchase items for our program.
  • We venture out into the community for a variety of events including picnics at local parks, visits to farms, libraries and museums, basketball, bowling, birdwatching, feeding the ducks in the park, walking on trails, scavenger hunts, galleries, animal shelters, and more.
  • In-door activities include daily exercise, music programs with Bill & Brandon, reading, arts & crafts, sensory activities, cooking/baking, Karaoke, tabletop activities and more.
  • We enjoy celebrating holidays with parties: Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, St. Valentine’s Day, Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Cinco de Mayo, and Memorial Day.
  • In addition, we discuss other events including Labor Day, Hispanic Heritage month, Autumnal Equinox, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, Winter Solstice, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Groundhog’s Day, President’s Day, Vernal Equinox, Earth Day, Summer Solstice, Juneteenth, and September 11th.
  • We assist in tending the Sensory Garden and plant vegetables in the summer.
  • We participate in the annual “Scarecrows in the Meadow” event held by the Litchfield Historical Society
