Camp LARC   Support Counselor

(for children with special needs)

 June 16 - August 15, 2008

  •  Create and maintain a healthy and safe environment for each camper.

  •  Assist camper to become integrate into the YMCA camp program.

  •  Assist with person care as needed.

  •  Must be 18 years or older

  •  First Aid, CPR, experience working with children preferred.

  •  HS/GED required.

  •  Jr. Camp Counselor Positions also available. (Ages 16 & 17)

NEW PROGRAM: Saturday Afternoon at the Movies

Robin Pedone, Recreation Coordinator, has started Teen Saturday afternoon at the moves.  The program runs from 1:45-4:00pm.  Folks can enjoy an afternoon movie & pop corn here at 66East Albert Street, Torrington.  

We need a volunteer to help with setting up chairs for the movie, popping popcorn and serving refreshments, and cleaning up. We anticipate 4-10 people to participate.

Robin will be on site at all times.

2/9, 2/23, 3/8, 3/22, 4/5, 4/19/ 5/5, 5/17 and 5/31.

Bowling at Sky Top Lanes is scheduled to begin each Wednesday from March 26th through June 11, 2008.  We bowl from 4:45PM-6:30PM once a week.  We need volunteers to keep score for each of the 7 lanes.   Score keeping instructions provided.  Robin will be on site at all times.

2nd Annual Spring Wine Tasting is planned for Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Torrington Elks Lodge No. 372. The event attracted nearly 5550 attendees last year.  We need volunteers to distribute posters throughout the region, sell tickets, sell sponsorships and staff various parts of the event.

SCHOOL TO WORK TRANSITION COORDINATOR

  • Responsible for development and management of a school to work transition program for students from the local educational agencies. 

  • Oversee the development of an Individualized Education Program for each special education student. 

  • Supervise transition staff to ensure that students' IEP is being followed. 

  • BS in Special Education, 3-5 years experience working in the field of autism. 

  • Valid CT driver's license required.

PROGRAM DEVELOPER

  • Energetic, dependable person needed.  Responsible for: development of monthly staff and transportation schedules; development of community based and in house recreation programs that meet the needs of the individuals supported in a day service program, review of data sheets. 

  • Bachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Related Field with 3 to 5 yrs related experience preferred. 

  • Valid CT driver's license required.  Will provide extensive training. 

RESIDENTIAL GROUP HOME 

  • Full-Time 2nd shift, Part-Time 1st shift, & Part-Time 3rd awake & sleep shifts.

  • Will provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a home environment, including community involvement.

  • Must be able to work well with others as well as independently.

  • CPR, PMT, First Aid, Med. Cert., preferred, but will train.

  • HS/GED required.

  • Valid CT driver's license/Good driving record will be required.

JOB COACH

  • Full-Time

  • Will be responsible for implementing job and work adjustment programs for community sites.

  • Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities necessary.

  • CPR, PMT, First Aid, Med. Cert., preferred, but will train.

  • Valid CT driver's license/PSL will be required.

  • HS/GED required.
